A new Pasadena City College is offering a whole course called “Navigating Pornography” about Porn with Prof. Hugo Schwyzer teaching about the role of porn in our society, or at least what it should be. Porn star James Deen even came by to give his intake, as an old student of PCC.
What I’ve taken from that class is that as Schwyzer explains, it is not Porn’s job to educate us sexually. This is just how it’s been because of the lack of support for sexuality talks and classes in high school and college. What porn should do is “entertain and inspire us“. We all have sexual lives and denying we like having and watching sex is just non-sense. We shouldn’t be ashamed about watching porn! So, let’s cut it some slack. Ok, sometimes porn can be difficult to watch, especially for girls, but that’s only because so many people have been afraid of offering their own views and fantasies, so now we are left with an imperfect, yet still entertaining, version of porn.
